From Heidelberg to New Orleans—and Back to Build Something of Her Own

Building the foundations of her craft

Chef Lina transformed her passion into a profession at Capsicum Culinary Studio in Sandton, completing formal culinary training and earning qualifications recognised by City & Guilds and CATHSSETA.

Her training and practical experience equipped her with the technical knowledge, discipline and versatility required in professional kitchens—from food preparation and pastry to sautéing, grilling, plating and service.

Growing through professional kitchens

Chef Lina developed her craft at establishments including Morning Glory Café, Peeping Tom, The Houghton Hotel and Truffles on the Park.

With every opportunity, she broadened her abilities and learned to deliver with precision, consistency and confidence in demanding kitchen environments.

Taking her experience international

Her journey later took her to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she joined Hufft Marchand Hospitality.

Working across sauté, grill, plating and service coordination strengthened her expertise and ability to perform under pressure. It also inspired a bigger ambition: to return home and build something of her own.

Returning home with a bigger vision

Chef Lina returned to South Africa with the experience, confidence and discipline to turn her vision into a business.

Today, Lina's is a growing mobile kitchen based in Heidelberg, offering freshly prepared meals and catering for private celebrations, corporate functions and community events.
